The Joy of Being a Breeder
The life of being a breeder is not the most glamorous job .. and believe me it can be a job… you get up feed kittens/cats, Clean kitty litter boxes, go around checking where that dang Male marked ground again(several times a day in fact), groom all the cats/kittens (this is fun though, great bonding time) .. Lunch time for kittens/cats..Clean up after the kittens/cats.. Then Dinner and again clean out litter boxes .. and in between all this you could have to worry about a mom giving birth an sitting 15 hours with her. Or a sick kitten, or even a mom that has stopped feeding the kittens and you than have to worry what’s wrong. And nurse 5 little ones to make sure they get enough to eat while mom chills.
So what makes it all worth it … moments like the one below. Today has been one of those crazy days and in the middle of it I receive a wonderful text and funny photos from a very loving happy mom and her little ones she adopted from me. Thank you Sonia for sharing with me today and allowing me to share this with others. You made my day. 5/25/19
Hi Jodi! You mean these crazy boys? 🙂 🙂
We then talked a bit about the boys pending alterations
Sonia: “Oh no Eden is still bigger, he is going to be huge! But Pip is getting big! Taking them in next week to be fixed. I hope it doesn’t change their personalities!
Me: It shouldn’t Maybe just a bit more mellow for a week or so
Sonia: Mellow I can do. I can use the rest”
so then I relook at the photos she sent .. I had not noticed in the first one Eden up on the venting
Me: OMG I had not noticed Eden up on the venting .. just thought it was Pip in his basket
Sonia then sends me more Photos
Sonia: “Sure! He walked all over the apartment on the venting and Pip and I were like WTF”
By this time I am laughing my head off ….. Thank you Thank you Thank you Sonia and boys.
So this is what makes being a breeder so well worth it 🙂

First Litter for Cattery Born Sept 1 2018
This was my first litter of kittens. They were and are beautiful. There was one Black Silver Shaded (Andy) and 3 color points. One Blue Silver Shaded Point (Alex) and 2 Silver Shaded Chinchilla Points ( Amber Rose and Ashley). The two males have been placed in a new loving forever home and the two females will be staying with me. I took them to a show on Jan 5th and 6th only showing Amber and Andy. Amber won 6 firsts, 3 2nds, and 2 3rds. Andy won 2 firsts, 5 2nds, and 3 3rds. Also over half the judges made some wonderful comments about them. So I am quite proud of the little ones. I will be placing pictures of Amber and Ashley(now known as Crystal) under my cats once they reach 6 months old.. My plan is to have kittens by them In the fall of 2019 once they reach 1 year old or better. They will be a great addition to my cattery.
